Cell Phone 101

Ever get a new cell phone and after only 7 or 8 months later the
battery needs to be replaced? Most people don't realize that a cell
phone battery is designed only to last that long before they stop
holding a charge and need to be replaced. It has definitely happened to
me and quite a number of friends. A Verizon Wireless employee has even
told me batteries are designed to fail. So how can we make our cell
phone battery last, follow these simple tips to keep your cell phone
battery like new, mine is over 2 years old and holds a charge like a new
phone.
Always unplug your phone after it has completed charging
This
tip may not make sense to some, however I will explain. When your cell
phone has completed charging, the cell phone doesn't automatically stop
charging the battery. This simple fact is the reason why you need to
unplug your phone when it has completed charging. The constant charging
starts to over-charge the battery resulting in the battery to swell, not
take a complete charge and not properly fit onto the phone. If your
battery is swollen or looks funny, I strongly suggest you replace your
battery asap. If they are swollen, they are more susceptible to failure.
When using a car charger, never let your phone charge for more than a half an hour
Car
chargers are speed chargers which charge your phone faster, yet if you
keep it charging too long, will over-charge your battery. This results
in the battery swelling or the loss of battery life. Always unplug a
phone when it has completed charging because a car charger also doesn't
stop charging when the battery is charged and the speed charger can
quickly ruin a cell phone battery.
Let your phone die completely and recharge completely at least once a month
Lithium-Ion
batteries are much better than their predecessors, yet they still have a
memory. A very bad memory in comparison so they need to be discharged
and charged completely at least once a month. This will help your
battery remember the difference between charged and completely dead.
